Closet or Fun

Remember this challenge quilt I made with Habitat fabrics? It has been sitting in the closet since then so I decided to donate it to our school's silent auction fundraiser event.

The money raised will be used to send Hume Park Elementary School students to the Farm to Fork weekend retreat this month on Gambier Island. They will learn to compost, grow, harvest and prepare food.

I titled it "Apple Tree" and finally made a label for it. I ironed some matching fabric onto freezer paper and printed the label directly on it using my inkjet printer. Then I peeled off the freezer paper, let the ink dry and ironed it again to set the ink. I think it turned out fabulous!

Note: Some brands of ink will not set permanently. You will want to make a test label first. If the ink runs, you can use my label tutorial using fabric instead of cotton twill tape.

The quilt that started off as "the ugly quilt" was starting to grow on us while it was hanging on the wall "relaxing" for a week and Claire was sad to hear that it would be going to a new home but happy that she would be going to camp.

Enjoy your afternoon tea & quilted crafts :o)
